- 4 cups bread flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tsp instant yeast
- 1 1/4 cups warm water
- 2 tbsp sugar
For the Topping
- 1 tbsp poppy seeds
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp dried minced onion
- 1 tbsp dried minced garlic
- 1 tsp coarse salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- Add oil and warm water to form a stiff dough.
- Knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 pieces.
- Shape each piece into a bagel and let rest for 10 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Boil water and sugar in a large pot. Boil each bagel for 1 minute per side.
- Combine the topping ingredients in a bowl.
- Dip each bagel into the topping mix and place on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
