Ingredients
Scale
- 8 slices of thick-cut bread (brioche, challah, or Texas toast)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk (or milk alternative)
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoons butter, for cooking
-
For the Cinnamon-Sugar Coating
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Prepare the Egg Mixture: In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
- Prepare the Bread: Cut each slice of bread into three or four sticks, ensuring they are of uniform size for even cooking.
- Heat the Pan: Preheat a large skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter, allowing it to melt and coat the pan evenly.
- Dip the Bread Sticks: Dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, letting it soak for a few seconds on each side to absorb the custard.
- Cook the Bread Sticks: Place the soaked bread sticks into the preheated skillet, cooking in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Prepare the Cinnamon-Sugar Coating: While the sticks are cooking, mix the sugar and cinnamon for the coating in a shallow dish.
- Coat the French Toast Sticks: Once cooked, immediately roll each French toast stick in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat evenly.
- Serve: Serve the French toast sticks warm with your favorite dipping sauces and toppings.
